Look at that drain. It’s above the tile. Not much I can do to fix this as those drains are sandwiched between the waterproofing layer of asphalt tar or hot mop.
Not much soap and shampoo residue on the tile based on using a razor blade to scrape for buildup. Shower was in decent condition and no signs of leakage from the hot mop waterproof. The shower valve was inspected during the trim plate replacement and checked out fine.
Customer wanted the shower valve trim plate to be replaced witch needed some cutting of tile to enlarge the hole. 5 minute freebie.
Customer wanted a new down spout. 30 minute freebie, mostly reading instructions on how to install. Probably take half that time to do it again. Learning is good.
After a thorough cleaning of the tile and grout using stainless steel brushes for the grout and a mechanical rotary buffer with a white nylon pad, I showed the customer all the areas that had missing grout. At least 50% of the shower needed to be regrouted. Customer just wanted a cleaning and epoxy grout applied at shower floor perimeter. They called me to clean before the new glass slider was installed. Probably will get a few more years out of this shower and they were happy.
