Tile installation at shower tub using traditional mortar substrate method. Tried and true old school craftmanship using modern day large format tile. Shampoo niche was waterproofed using foam backerboard and orange schluter corners with sealant at all joints.
Stucco lathe stapled to moisture resistant drywall. 1/2″ mortar applied to walls creating a flat and plumb substrate. Thinset was applied to bond tile to walls. Self leveling red clips were used to keep the heavy tiles from moving during the drying process. Metal trim was used around the outside perimeter of walls and niche area. Glass subway tiles at back wall of niche.
Laticrete grout: color stormy gray was used to complement the tile with a clean and classy look.
Epoxy grout or Super Grout Additive was applied where tub/tile meet to keep water from getting behind tile and outperforms silicone or caulk at wet areas.
Schluter Ditra mat with red self leveling clips were used at the vanity floor area over wood sub floor.
